A note from our founder

If you told me six months ago I’d be hosting hiking retreats, group hikes, and outdoors workshops for women, I would not have believed you. Renew Retreats was very much an idea, and definitely not a thing.

The first pinch-me moment came in May when I settled on a business name with Salt Design Co. Wait, this is becoming real! In June, the brand started coming to life and I finally began telling people about Renew Retreats.

Then in August, we launched. 70 people and 6 local vendors showed up to celebrate the launch of Renew Retreats - many of whom I barely knew or had only met on Instagram.

Our first retreat to Bowen Island in August was truly the cherry on top! You never know what’s going to happen when you put an idea out into the world and launch a business. Yet to see 10 strangers come together, spend a day outside, and leave feeling renewed and connected with each other, was both incredibly special and showed me how much something like Renew Retreats is needed (thank goodness).

It has been a wild, challenging, and fulfilling ride so far with no shortage of mistakes, doubt, and celebration. Personally, the best part of the business has been the community that has quickly grown around Renew Retreats.

I moved to Vancouver in 2012 not knowing a single person, save for family members outside the city. Now to be surrounded by such an incredible and growing group of outdoors lovers and kind individuals is something I will not take for granted. (If I do, please forward me this post!)

Building community and facilitating meaningful outdoors experiences are two things I return to weekly, if not daily, when I am unsure of my next steps or the future of Renew Retreats.

We have an exciting lineup of one-day retreats, group hikes, meet-ups, and workshops planned for the rest of 2019, as we continue to test new ideas, grow our community, and honestly, see what sticks. I would love for you to join us at an upcoming Renew Retreats event. Ontario, we’re coming for you in December!

Thank you as always for reading and supporting the business. If you have any other questions, concerns, or suggestions, I’m all ears. Contact me at hello@welcometorenew.com or find us on Instagram and Facebook.

See you on the trails!

-Danielle, Owner and Founder of Renew Retreats

PS. If you’re thinking of coming to Garibaldi Lake with Renew Retreats on October 5 and would like roundtrip transportation between Burrard Skytrain and the trailhead, you must book by tomorrow (September 29).
